Eretha "Rita" (Goode) Garvin

Eretha Goode Garvin, devoted life partner & best friend to Mr. Ross Epps of twenty plus years. She was affectionately known to many as "Rita".

Her legacy began on January 21, 1958, in Gastonia, NC she was the daughter of the late Charles Otis Goode and Iola Williams Goode. On Friday, August 27, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Health in Gastonia, at the age of sixty three this world lost a virtuous woman who will be forever missed. We give thanks to our Lord and Savior for her time with us. Rita was a woman of integrity and demonstrated at an early age, a unique gift of nurturing and caring for others. The love she gave is what guided, shaped, and sustained her throughout her life as many were sent to her, to experience the love that she gave so selflessly. 

Rita gained her early education with Gaston County School System and later became a graduate of Hunter Huss High School. She was employed with CTC (Champion Thread Company) in Gastonia, NC where she left her footprints of her infectious personality and commitment to motivate others. She wore many hats and was dedicated to her family that she was so proud of. Her passion for bringing family and friends together with her amazing cooking, her love for flowers, interior decorating and most of all enjoying her family. At any given time, you would find her exploring ways of helping others in their time of need, this was all second nature for Rita. In addition, to caring for others she also incorporated self love, which could be seen through her stylish fashions, enjoying her fishing time and gardening.

She was preceded in death by parents; Charles Otis Goode and Iola Williams Goode.

She is survived by her life partner; Ross Epps, daughter; Belinda G. Lawson (Shawn), sons; James Goode, Jah Gordon and Chris Washington, brothers; Richard Goode, Tommie Goode, Charles Goode and Michael Goode, sister; Deborah Goode, grandchildren; Tabitha Lawson, Koveon Lawson, Madison Goode, Kalen Lawson, Alana Goode and Jordan Goode and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
